We’re proud to share the strides we've made in enhancing our community. Our efforts have focused on creating spaces for recreation, preserving our rich history, and fostering transparency and engagement. Here's a look at our accomplishments:
Enhancing Recreation and Community Spaces
Kelley-Myers Park Playground: We built a new playground at Kelley-Myers Park, providing a safe and enjoyable area for children. This addition supports youth team sports by offering a place for younger siblings to play during games.
Founders Park Development: We established the 17-acre Founders Park, diversifying recreational options with a prairie, walking paths, a new 3400 sq ft community center, a multi use pavilion, and a memorial plaza.
Cross Park Improvements: We halted overdevelopment plans, protecting the surrounding neighborhood from nighttime team play and more ball fields. We improved traffic flow and congestion, enhanced a baseball field, and installed a plaza with flagpole. We conducted environmental testing of the well water supply, alleviating the concerns of area parents.
Stone Bridge Trail Enhancements: We improved the Stone Bridge Trail by removing invasive species, ensuring a safer and more natural experience for walkers and bikers.
Bringing Affordable Transit to Roscoe
We are proud to have brought the low-cost Stateline Mass Transit District (SMTD) bus service to Roscoe. This service offers an affordable and reliable transportation option for residents, making it easier for everyone to travel within the township and beyond.
Preserving Our History
Cross Homestead Restoration: We collaborated with the Roscoe Township Historical Society to raise private funds for restoring the Cross Homestead, a township-owned asset. This effort honors our heritage, connects us to our past, and anchors the town square at Founders Park.
Improving Township Operations
Technological Upgrades: We revamped the township’s computer network, enhancing security and installing a backup system. We introduced a government email system, replacing personal emails, and provided new computers and printers for the front office and Assessor’s office.
Enhanced Transparency: We built a user-friendly website, publicized meetings with agendas, and published meeting packets online, fostering a welcoming atmosphere at meetings.
Cemetery Information Management System (CIMS): We implemented CIMS, a cloud-based system for securely storing and easily retrieving cemetery records for our three cemeteries. This advancement modernizes our record-keeping and enhances accessibility.8
Investing in Township Infrastructure
We’ve also made key investments in improving the maintenance and care of our roads and parks. By purchasing new equipment, including a tractor, skid steer, mini excavator, and two trucks, we’ve significantly improved our ability to maintain infrastructure, enhance park facilities, and respond to the needs of the community efficiently and effectively.
Engaging with the Community
Active Participation: We’ve engaged the community by hosting booths at the Fall Festival and participating in parades, ensuring that residents of all ages have the opportunity to be heard.
Welcoming Meetings: We cultivated a welcoming atmosphere at meetings, encouraging open dialogue and active participation from all residents.
Honoring Our Heritage
Founders Park Memorial Plaza: We facilitated the Historical Society’s Memorial Brick Program at Founders Park, allowing residents to honor loved ones and contribute to the park's development.
We are committed to continuing our work to make Roscoe Township a vibrant, thriving community. Your support is invaluable as we strive to build a better future together. Vote to re-elect the Roscoe Independents for Roscoe Township.
