My family and I have been Roscoe residents since 1995. I was raised in Cherry Valley Township,  and we settled here after 15 years in Mesa, Arizona. We were attracted to Roscoe Township for the schools and the low tax rate, along with the wonderful people. I am recently widowed after 44 years of marriage with 3 grown children, and one grandchild, all still residing in the area.

I studied Accounting with emphasis on Cost Accounting/Forecasting. In addition, I am a Certified Computer Technician. Looking back, it seems I could never decide between the two fields, so I ended up making my early career installing mainframe/mini-frame computers and corresponding software in accounting environments for companies converting from manual systems, mostly in the manufacturing/construction industries.

I have decades of experience in accounting/tax preparation/business management, and I owned and operated Certified Computer Service for 12 years here in Roscoe before retiring.

I am a Founding Board Member of the Roscoe Township Historical Society, serving as its Treasurer. For the last 8 years, I have worked part time as the Assistant to the Roscoe Township Supervisor. I lead the way in securing over a million dollars in grant funds to build the new Community Center and Founders Park, performing all of the grant reporting and budgeting the cash flow to ensure we had all of the funds we needed when we needed them, while meeting our other financial responsibilities and maintaining sufficient reserves.

Unlike Villages and Cities, a Township’s main revenue is received in June and September. There are 5 months in our fiscal year where the only income we receive is what interest we earn on our reserves and (now) a little bit from renting the community center. We have to plan for that. My experience in forecasting/budgeting has been crucial during these past few years of construction.

Prior to my employment, the Township had no website, Trustees used their personal emails for township business and there were no secure backup systems in place. We now have a website, where all of our documents are uploaded. These documents include agendas, meeting minutes, board packets, levies, budgets, and other information for residents.

The Supervisor role, in different ways and at different times, requires a positive working relationship with office, highway, and assessment staff, as well as the ability to work with board members, suppliers, contractors and our residents. I have those positive relationships and skills.

My experience and education have prepared me to do this job. Indeed, I’ve been doing this job. I would like to continue, and I am asking for your vote on April 1st to serve as your Township Supervisor.
